FRANKINCENSE SACRA ESSENTIAL OIL
I remember first time I smelled this oil and totally hated it. I thought it was dark, pungent and brought me back memories of my childhood when being in the church in Easter season in Spain.
I started to study about essential oils for skincare years ago and learnt that Frankincense had interesting anti-aging benefits, so I confess I started looking (smelling) at it in a different way (more tolerant and open-minded maybe because I am 40 +??? ) and considered to add it in my skincare formulas, the more I was working with essential oils is like your nose get trained and you perception changes/evolves the same way as happens with food and your palate.
I decided to open my mind and learnt more then about the top-medium-base notes method. I discovered that mixing with other essential oils especially citrus – my favorite- it works brilliantly and you can achieve great combination/blends. Years ago I started to use Frankincense for anti -stress purpose and meditation as it deepens the breath it worked amazingly well and it REALLY makes you feel grounded. But still an essential oil that is not my favorite smell although I can appreciate the goodness and fantastic benefits that provides . Frankincense is a base note and works as fixative aroma…so undoubtedly is a MUST in your skincare products.
I have used essential oils from a lot of brands over the years BUT (big but here !!!) recently I have discovered on Facebook that a Irish distillation company offers Frankincense Sacra , woowwwwww …..2 surprises in 1 !! First never knew about an Irish distillation company and second a different Frankincense type and origin ? in Dublin ? (support local businesses please !!!) Of course I felt extremely curious about these news and contact to Karl Murray from Kotanical.ie straight away.By the way another surprise is the fact that behind all this art there is a young man Already had the feeling I would love that new Frankincense Sacra . And Organic too !!! You can’t ask for more ,,,can you ?
After having a nice interesting chat with Karl on the phone he kindly sent me a little bottle of Organic Frankincense Sacra . When I received the package I was dying to smell that new Frankincense that had never heard before …….
oooooooooooooommmmmmmmmmmmmmm the smells was exquisite . Totally different to the other Frankincense ( Boswellia cateris) . This Frankincese Sacra is luxurious , sweet, herby , lemoney and earthy at the same time . Definitely different notes , different chemical constituents to Boswellia cateris .
Frankincese Sacra (Boswellia sacra)
Frankincense essential oil encourages regeneration of new skin cells and this action is what it makes this essential oil a top anti-aging among the rest . As all essential oils have versatile amazing skin benefits Frankincese can be so good for acne as for eczema, reduce appearance of scars, blemishes and age spots , isn’t this fantastic ??. It is best to dilute it with a carrier oil such as : Organic Jojoba oil, Organic sunflower oil, Organic Rosehip oil and many others. I would use always a good organic cold pressed quality carrier oil with this exquisite essential oil to get the benefits of the wonderful synergy.
Many people use frankincense essential oil in its undiluted form without any reaction but take care before using it neat. The anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties in frankincense oil will help soothe any redness and destroy bacteria. It also has astringent qualities that help tighten the skin (mmmm love this one….. 40+ remember???!!)
Add some drops of this precious essential oil in your day creams or make your own and definitely make it part of your recipe/formula. This is not a new discovery , in ancient Egypt it was used in rejuvenating face masks, cosmetics and perfumes and for skin diseases due to its multiple actions:
cytophylactic ( this is the one I am talking about . Cytophylactic means that the oil stimulate the generation of new cells, which will aid in preserving the health of the skin)
It blends great with sandalwood, pine, vetiver, geranium, lavender, mimosa, neroli, orange, bergamot, camphor, basil, pepper, cinnamon . According to Update edition “The Encyclopedia of essential oils ” by Julia Lawless
Karl from Kotanical.ie has attended my complete bodycare workshop last Saturday , and it was great to have him in the class. Not only we enjoyed his company but his knowledge and experience distilling essential oils was very interesting and he kindly gave us little cute testers of this unique Frankincense Sacra.
