NO TO PALM OIL IN FOOD AND COSMETICS.

Even some cruelty-free, vegan and natural skincare products and soaps contain palm oil . Read the ingredients label or make your own skincare products. Avoid the purchase of any form of palm oil:
Palmitate – Vitamin A or Ascorbyl Palmitate (NOTE: Vitamin A Palmitate is a very common ingredient in breakfast cereals and we have confirmed 100% of the samples we’ve investigated to be derived from palm oil)
Palmate
Sodium Laureth Sulphate
Sodium Lauryl Sulphates
Sodium dodecyl Sulphate (SDS or NaDS)
Elaeis Guineensis
Glyceryl Stearate
Stearic Acid
Chemicals which contain palm oil:
Steareth -2
Steareth -20
Sodium Lauryl Sulphate
Sodium lauryl sulfoacetate (coconut and/or palm)
Hydrated palm glycerides
Sodium palmitate (common in many many soaps)
Sodium isostearoyl lactylaye (derived from vegetable stearic acid)
Cetyl palmitate and octyl palmitate (names with palmitate at the end are usually derived from palm oil, but as in the case of Vitamin A Palmitate, very rarely a company will use a different vegetable oil)

Palm oil is commonly used in soapmaking for its lather properties. People want soaps that make bubbles because it gives the feeling of  cleanliness . This feeling is psicologic , it is not real. Your skin can get clean without the bubbles. I do use palm oil in my cosmetic making nor soapmaking. There many other natural and sustainable oils you can use to create a nice lather in your soap.
My next soapmaking class is Saturday 19th May
