Feel Better Now: Simple Self-care Tips.

With summer ending and kids heading back to school, you may find yourself in a bit of a whirlwind trying to keep up. Now, more than ever, incorporating simple self-care tips into your daily routine can make a huge difference. However, we understand that not everyone has time for a spa day or the money for a luxury getaway. Unlike beauty magazines, which may try to convince you that you need the latest and greatest for self-care, at WapoBeauty we value easy tips. This week, we are sharing some of our favourite, simple self-care tips to help you feel refreshed and ready to take on the world.

Hydration is Key

We can’t say it enough, always remember to drink your fluids. When stress kicks-in, being properly hydrated can help your brain and body manage better. After all, we’re 60% liquid, so keeping our fluids up means our joints will be better lubricated and our brain will be at its best. Being properly hydrated is especially important if you exercise regularly, are pregnant, or are breastfeeding. Doctors recommend that adult men drink at least 13 cups of water, while women need at least 9 cups.

Try a Digital Detox

Too much screen time can hurt your eyes and affect your sleep, which can catch up with you in the long run. Although there are plenty of tools like blue light glasses or “night mode” on your mobile, nothing works better than a detox. If you want to try it, we recommend starting slow as it can take some getting used to. You can first try disconnecting on the weekend to enjoy a bit of peace of mind. Should you decide that you want to have a daily detox, you can create a schedule for yourself and limit the times of day you use technology for long-term results.

Learn Something New

Studying and furthering your knowledge is what WapoBeauty is all about. That’s why we recommend this simple self-care tip, because anyone at any age can continue to learn and grow. At the moment, we are particularly curious about healing foods like those in Dr. Michael Greger’s book “How Not to Die”. Pamper Your Skin

Giving your skin some tender loving care can go a long way when you’re feeling exhausted. Using natural oils you already have at home, you can try facial massage for soothing relaxation and noticeable results. With your hands, a cold spoon, a jade roller, or a guasha stone, you can create a relaxing massage routine that will melt away your stress. Facial massage has shown to improve circulation, boost lymphatic drainage, encourage collagen production, and even reduce fine lines. Our biggest tip here is to remember to be gentle, as massaging too hard can do more damage than good!

Get Moving

Staying active may be challenging when you’re busy but making time to move your body can help you feel better instantly. When we exercise our brain releases endorphins that make us feel happy. Regardless of whether you run, swim, cycle or dance, doing a bit of exercise is the best self-care you can offer yourself. Not only will you burn calories, activate your metabolism, and get your heart pumping, but you’ll also have fun! So, whether you’re in spinning class or dancing to YouTube videos at home, we recommend moving your body!
